Dr. Callewaert, also know as Dr. Armpit, is one of the world’s leading experts on armpit health. He describes using anti-persperient as, “biological murder,” and spends his time sniffing old T-shirts, studying the habits and skim microbiomes of native tribes in Africa and advocating for armpit microdiversity awareness.

Topics we cover in this interview include what our armpit smells says about our armpit bacteria, whe he is passionate about the armpit, the connection between our pets and family and our own skin microbiome, his personal armpit & skin care routine plus his diet and how he has helped others change their armpit smells from bad to good.

He is currently a researcher at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University, from where he holds two masters and PhD. He is hosted by Ghent University’s The Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology in Belgium as well by Knight lab at University of California San Diego.

At only 35 years of age, he has published a multitude of groundbreaking studies in papers such as Experimental Dermatology, Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, BMC Biology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Archives of Dermatological Research, PLOS ONE, Journal of Microbiological Methods, Frontiers of Microbiology, American Journal of Clinical Dermatology and many more.
